Spiritual Contemporary Christian Music . . . With A Mission

The heart of the Mater Dei story lies with Father Charles and Laurie - who, early on in their lives, discovered that God had blessed them with the gift of music and the power to touch people's lives through inspirational song. After becoming ordained a Roman Catholic Priest and finding that his music was so beloved by his parishioners, family and friends, Father Charles knew that God meant for him to use his gifts in music to reach out to those around him. In 1992, with the support and encouragement of a growing group of followers inspired by his music, Father Charles recorded and released his first album, Lead Me Lord. The overwhelming positive response to this first album led to a second album - I Call You Friend - joining together with Laurie and professional arranger Angelo DiPippo. From there, Father Charles and Laurie have gone on to produce seven additional albums, continuing to bring God's love, hope and healing to the countless individuals touched by their gift of music.

With more and more people finding joy and solace in their music, Father Charles and Laurie (who are also hosts of the popular "God is Good" television show on Long Island's Telecare and Brooklyn/Manhattan's The Prayer Channel) came to realize the true potential of the Mater Dei mission. Mater Dei (which means Mother of God) continued to grow - with Father Charles and Laurie bringing their music to sold out performances at some of the most prestigious venues in the country (including the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln center and Westbury Music Fair - now known as Theater at Westbury) - as well as gaining a strong international following through performances in Canada, France, Trinidad, Barbados, Yugoslavia and Austria. As part of the Mater Dei mission, Father Charles and Laurie have also created special "Nights of Recollection" events held at parishes throughout the region. These events offer a unique mix of songs, bible readings and personal reflections that transform, inspire and re-energize God's people.

As an inspirational music ministry, Mater Dei continues to reach thousands with God's message of love, forgiveness, hope and healing. As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, Mater Dei also continues to bring new hope to so many people in need - and as Mater Dei continues to grow and thrive, so too will the many organizations being helped by the proceeds of this music ministry.
